Andrea Blake
Owner & Stylist
Hi, I'm Andrea, Founder and Owner here at Cellar Door Salon and Spa.
Cellar Door was designed especially for you as a place where you can put your feet up, let your hair down and take time for YOU. A place where you can feel cared for, listened to, and a little bit luxurious. Because let's face it, life is really hard and when we gift ourselves time, we look better, we feel better, and we do better. We glow.
It is in this spirit of wellness and self-love that I walk through the Cellar Door everyday — with genuine gratitude that I get the chance to hear your stories, watch you grow, and simply, help you feel good.
As a stylist, I find inspiration everywhere and am always on the lookout for movement: in music, in nature, on the streets of places I've traveled. I take great joy in giving you a style you can love and teaching you how to achieve that same salon look at home.
I invite you to indulge yourself with a visit to Cellar Door. Whether it is relaxation, conversation, or trying on a new color that most excites you, I can't wait to create an experience (and look) you love.
How long have you been a stylist?
Since 2002!
What's your favorite service?
I love them all, but I especially love giving shoulder and scalp massages. It's a great way to help clients relax and transition from outside chaos to my salon chair. I also am pretty crazy about being able to razor cut.
What other artistic passions do you have?
Music! My Mother is a music teacher so music has been a part of my life since I was still in the womb! It is really rewarding to share my love of music with my three children — by taking them to concerts and introducing them to new genres. We also explore a variety of art forms together: theatre, dance, visual arts. I am doing my best to instill a sense of curiosity in them and demonstrating to them how art can be a great way to explore those curiosities and feel a sense of connection between their inner and outer worlds.
Where did you learn how to be a stylist?
Like so much of my story, I first learned how to cut hair from my Dad — who taught me how to cut his hair when I was young, and even how to cross-check my work. Before I pursued cosmetology school, I brought my shears and clippers to my first school-Gustavus Adolphus — and cut hair in the bathroom of my dorm. My formal education was with the Model College of Hair Design in St. Cloud, MN and have since had a chance to continue my education through travel to stay on top of new products and current trends and keep my skills fresh. This includes courses in cuts, coloring, and working with special hair types like textured hair (which included a training with renowned stylist Tippi Shorter!)
Why do you continue to work as a stylist?
Growth! Seeing my clients raising their families and then seeing their kids grow up and come back to see me is really rewarding.
What are you most grateful for?
My family! I am wild about my children and feel so much gratitude for my parents and three siblings. No matter how crazy my ideas might seem as an entrepreneur, they are always behind me. I've been blessed with their belief in me and my ideas since childhood and their support has been unwavering ever since. I am grateful because I know that kind of loyalty is not something that every entrepreneur can count on.

I knew I was meant to do hair, it called to me as a little girl when my mom would bring me to the salon with her. Walking in I would immediately fall in love with the whole atmosphere. From the lighting, the products, to my mom's hairstylist. I looked up to her in awe of how she would do her job. Making my mom smile, feel, and look as amazing. How amazing to discover that desire so young?
I graduated Regency Beauty Institute in 2012 and have been licensed in this industry for a over eight years.
My passion for this industry grows every year. I take as many classes I can to learn new technique. I enjoy doing everything this field has to offer, colors, cuts, my favorite is to foil. I cherish what I do every day. I love being able to change a bad day into a great one. Making my guests feel and look their best is something I always strive for!
My other passion in life is my family. I have an amazing husband, two kids, and a puppy. We love to travel, exploring new places, watching the kids awe in discovery.
I also adore cooking. Not only do I love a challenge behind the chair, but in the kitchen. I am dairy and gluten-free, so my creativity is used in many ways.
Overall wellness is very important to me. I enjoy exercise, reading, diffusing my favorite oils, and do things that challenge me and bring me joy!
Life is a wonderful adventure! I would love to share it with you!
